The experimental drug daraxonrasib, developed by US biotech company Revolution Medicines, has achieved a major breakthrough in clinical trials for pancreatic cancer, demonstrating significantly longer overall survival and progression-free survival than chemotherapy, and is hailed as the most promising advancement in oncology in nearly two decades.

Despite the drug's immense potential attracting acquisition interest from major pharmaceutical groups like Merck, Revolution's Chief Executive Mark Goldsmith stated that being acquired by a large pharma group is not a high priority, as the company remains fully focused on advancing this therapy that likely changes the treatment paradigm for pancreatic cancer.

The drug has been granted early access designation by the FDA, allowing it to be offered to a limited number of patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Taken daily as three pills with relatively mild side effects, daraxonrasib is also being evaluated in early-stage trials for other cancers, including lung and colorectal cancers.
