On January 15, 2026 at 05:54 (UTC+8; original: 05:54 GMT+8), Bloomberg reported that OpenAI signed a multiyear computing supply deal with Cerebras Systems Inc. People familiar with the matter estimated the deal size at more than $10 billion. The plan is to provide 750 megawatts (original: 750 MW; converted: 0.75 GW) of AI computing power, built in stages through 2028 and hosted by Cerebras, to reduce model inference and response latency.

Comparable build-outs are occurring at larger power scales: Nvidia Corp. said in September 2025 it would invest up to $100 billion with OpenAI to build new data centers with at least 10 gigawatts (10 GW) of capacity; Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said in October 2025 it would deploy 6 gigawatts (6 GW) of GPUs for OpenAI over multiple years. By capacity, 0.75 GW is about 7.5% of 10 GW and about 12.5% of 6 GW. OpenAI is also advancing chip-related work with Broadcom Inc.

Cerebras uses a large-chip architecture to challenge Nvidia and runs data centers for recurring revenue, and the companies said they have explored collaboration since 2017. In recent work supporting OpenAI’s GPT-OSS-120B, they said it ran 15 times faster than “conventional hardware,” and CEO Andrew Feldman emphasized inference as the critical stage. Separately, Cerebras is reported to be discussing roughly $1 billion in funding at a $22 billion pre-money valuation, ahead of a potential IPO. The Wall Street Journal previously reported the roughly $10 billion OpenAI–Cerebras deal.
