X launched a large anti-bot purge in April 2026, and the cleanup has also removed many real accounts used to hide and curate porn content. As reported, Justin Diego—a creator with 617,000 combined followers on YouTube and Instagram—had a secret X account created in 2024 for tracking and saving OnlyFans content such as solo clips; it was suspended over the weekend despite being used only for private bookmarking and likes, illustrating how long-built user archives can be erased in one moderation wave.
X’s rule system targets "inauthentic activity that undermines platform integrity," so private accounts that are not publicly abusive can still be flagged as spam or engagement boosting. Nikita Bier said X was flagging about 208 bots per minute, rising, on April 9; in October the company had previously removed 1.7 million bots. The organization has also said nearly half of the product team has shifted to spam mitigation, increasing automated enforcement, but users report false positives and argue AI and LLM systems still fail to distinguish a long-paid, premium, ID-verified human account from a bot.
Users and creators describe losing years of curated content collections overnight. Some affected accounts are several years old (including a 6-year-old gooner account mentioned in posts), and appeals are only partly successful. Alexander Monea noted that LGBTQ+ and especially queer and trans communities, which rely heavily on digital platforms for sexual education and safe identity exploration, are especially vulnerable to blunt enforcement. Even with some reinstatements, many accounts remain suspended; Diego himself had Premium and still appealed unsuccessfully, then planned to continue fighting the suspension.
