除了极端温度与减压风险,高速运行的微流星体能轻易穿透装备并损坏基地设施;而缺乏大气和磁场保护更让月球表面充斥高达地球200倍的辐射,太阳风暴时期的粒子流更是极度危险。此外,封闭太空装内的二氧化碳如果未能有效过滤或循环,亦会迅速引发中毒、判断力受损甚至昏迷。

月球表面带电且边缘如玻璃般锋利的月尘,不仅会磨损机械与太空装,吸入后更可能进入血液危害心血管与呼吸系统。加上长期处于六分之一低重力环境对生理结构的未知影响,以及在狭小封闭空间中与外界隔绝带来的心理压力,均是维持月球长期驻留必须克服的核心工程与医疗难题。

Humanity is preparing to return to the Moon and establish a permanent base, but the extreme lunar environment poses severe threats to astronaut survival. In the lunar vacuum, any puncture to a spacesuit leads to rapid loss of consciousness within seconds alongside lethal decompression and asphyxiation, while the lack of atmosphere causes severe temperature swings that require advanced thermal suits to prevent freezing or overheating.

Beyond temperature extremes and decompression, high-speed micrometeoroids can easily puncture gear and erode lunar infrastructure, while the lack of atmospheric and magnetic shielding exposes surface astronauts to up to 200 times more radiation than on Earth, especially during solar storms. Additionally, any failure in suit ventilation or filtration can lead to dangerous carbon dioxide buildup, causing toxicity, impaired judgment, and asphyxiation.

Jagged and electrostatically charged lunar dust can severely erode equipment, damage spacesuits, and penetrate the lungs and bloodstream to harm internal organs. Furthermore, the physiological uncertainties of prolonged exposure to one-sixth gravity and the intense psychological stress of long-term isolation in a confined habitat represent crucial engineering and medical challenges for sustained lunar habitation.
