周三,当局以59项罪名起诉Naveed(含恐攻罪)。
A mass shooting at a Jewish community Hanukkah event at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday killed 15 people, described as the worst terrorist attack on Australian soil. Police said on Tuesday they found two homemade Isis flags and explosives in a car linked to the alleged attackers: Sajid Akram, 50, and his son Naveed, 24; Sajid died at the scene.
On Wednesday, authorities charged Naveed with 59 offences, including a terrorism charge. Investigators are scrutinising the Akrams’ Philippines trip: immigration officials said they arrived in Manila from Sydney on November 1, listing Davao as their destination, and returned to Australia a little over two weeks before the attack, raising questions about possible training or outside coordination.
Experts said Isis, which split from al-Qaeda in 2013 and lost its territorial “caliphate” by 2019, now more often inspires attacks than directly commands them. Isis-K claimed major attacks in 2024, including Moscow (143 killed) and Iran (more than 100 killed), and a separate incident in Palmyra involved two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter killed. In the Philippines, analysts note a decline since the 2017 Marawi siege (five months, hundreds of militants killed): of roughly five pro-Isis groups, only a couple remain active; the last major Isis-linked attack there was in December 2023, and the last known foreign jihadi was captured in June 2023.
