Since the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020, countries such as Morocco, the UAE, and Bahrain have significantly expanded military cooperation with Israel. In 2024, Israel’s arms exports to these states totaled $1.7 billion, comprising 12% of its annual defense exports. After the signing, Morocco purchased Israeli self-propelled guns, air defense missiles, a spy satellite, and drones. In 2023, Morocco announced the establishment of a domestic production facility for Israeli-designed small tactical attack drones. Additionally, the UAE deployed two Israeli missile systems, Bahrain adopted Israeli radar for coastal defense, and Indonesia also became a buyer.

Since 2022, Israel’s defense ministry annual reports have devoted a section to exports to Abraham Accords countries, highlighting their growing importance as arms customers. Arms deals provide Israel with diplomatic leverage and foster long-term security relationships. Such sustained cooperation is reinforced by the long-term nature of defense contracts and services. Notably, even before the accords were signed, the UAE and Bahrain were already using Israel’s Pegasus spyware, indicating Israel’s pervasive technological influence in the region.

Despite Israel’s current unpopularity among the general public in these countries, their governments remain committed to defense partnerships due to significant long-term investment. Israel’s missile-defense systems have been developed and used to counter Iranian threats, thereby strengthening the security of regional states. These enduring military ties are a key reason the Abraham Accords have remained resilient, even after two years of war in Gaza.
