Powered by Gemini, it lets users ask the assistant to complete tasks such as shopping and planning a family trip without leaving Chrome; product director Charmaine D’Silva said it can open different airline and hotel sites to compare prices.
Chrome Vice President Parisa Tabriz wrote that testers have used it for many cases: scheduling appointments, filling out tedious online forms, collecting tax documents, getting quotes for plumbers and electricians, checking whether bills are paid, filing expense reports, managing subscriptions, and speeding up driver’s license renewals, and she claimed substantial time savings. The rollout is framed as the latest step in parent Alphabet Inc.’s effort to weave AI across products; earlier this month (a Jan. 14, 2026 report), Google said Gemini’s Personal Intelligence can draw on user data across Gmail, Search, Photos, and YouTube to personalize responses, and when activated on Chrome it can help with trip logistics such as checking school schedules and existing appointments to find a better option.
Auto browse will be available to US AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers and will use Google Password Manager to sign into websites on a user’s behalf.
