Amid a major boom in data center construction, Huawei Technologies Co. has notified clients that the suggested price of its most advanced AI accelerator, the Ascend 950DT, has surged by roughly 60% over the past three months to around 250,000 yuan ($37,300) per chip, aligning closely with the pricing of Nvidia Corp.'s flagship B200. Domestic competitor Cambricon Technologies Corp. has also reportedly raised prices by up to 30%, highlighting an intense surge in demand that heavily outstrips available domestic hardware supply.

Tightened US export controls have restricted the flow of top-tier American AI-training hardware into China, and while gray-market chips remain costly and unreliable, domestic options have gained unprecedented momentum. Key AI builders such as DeepSeek plan to deploy at least 160,000 top-end Ascend accelerators in Inner Mongolia, with industry analysts noting that extensive engineering investments into Huawei's proprietary CANN software stack and Ascend ecosystem create high switching costs that solidify Huawei's domestic market dominance.
