Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, priced starting at $1,199 and $1,299 following a $100 price hike. Since no standard base model was introduced this cycle and the upcoming foldable iPhone Duo looms on the horizon, users of recent Pro models or those satisfied with entry-level devices have little reason to rush into upgrading, although both flagship devices still deliver solid overall value.

Performance is driven by the A20 Pro processor alongside a vapor chamber cooling system expanded to three times its previous size, which effectively disperses heat during demanding gaming sessions to curb thermal throttling. Battery life remains exceptionally strong, particularly on the Pro Max, while iOS 27 introduces an upgraded Siri AI and a shrunken Dynamic Island capable of neatly hosting up to three live activities simultaneously.

The primary innovation resides in the main camera, which now features a physical variable aperture offering four mechanical f-stops from f/1.48 to f/4. This mechanism delivers authentic optical bokeh, faster low-light captures, and full-frame sharpness for group shots. Paired with native shutter speed adjustments and textured photographic style controls, the system provides photography enthusiasts with extensive manual flexibility and an engaging shooting experience.
