Meta has been developing plans for a cloud computing business, which includes leasing compute capacity to other companies and selling access to AI models hosted on its infrastructure. CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that while all computing capacity is currently used internally, the lucrative offers they receive have prompted consideration of renting it out.

Meanwhile, Anthropic has been aggressively securing computing resources from other tech firms. In May, it announced a nearly $45 billion deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX for computing power over three years, and signed a separate $1.8 billion agreement with cloud services provider Akamai Technologies.
