Elon Musk's recent interview with The Economist highlighted his extreme self-confidence, a trait reinforced by his success with companies like Tesla and SpaceX. However, his tendency to dismiss criticism and operate with concentrated power raises concerns as his influence expands into critical sectors like social media, space exploration, and AI.

Musk predicts that AI will surpass human intelligence within a decade, potentially ushering in an era of "amazing abundance" where robots handle tasks and provide a universal basic income. Yet, he also acknowledges the existential risks of super-intelligent AI and suggests that top AI companies should police each other to prevent harmful outcomes.

Leaving the regulation of such transformative technology to an oligarchy of tech billionaires is problematic, as it threatens human agency and concentrates wealth and power. Society must ensure that AI integration is managed in a way that preserves democratic oversight rather than submitting to the unchecked magnanimity of a few "Technokings."
