Nvidia's market value has surged past $5 trillion, driven by its data-center division's annual revenue growing from $11 billion to $194 billion in just four years. At Computex, Nvidia unveiled its new RTX Spark "superchip" for PCs, developed with Microsoft over 2.5 years, to shift some AI processing workload from the cloud to local devices.
This move targets a PC chip market that has seen desktop chip unit sales decline by 4% annually over the last decade, with laptop sales remaining flat. Nvidia hopes to redefine computing through AI agents, though it faces stiff competition from incumbent giants Intel and AMD, which control over 80% of the PC CPU market.
Supported by an estimated $200 billion in free cash flow this year, Nvidia has partnered with major PC makers like HP, Lenovo, and Acer to launch RTX Spark devices. This expansion intensifies competition across the semiconductor industry as tech giants increasingly encroach on each other's territories.
