At CES 2026, Chinese companies featured prominently, with at least 900 exhibitors—about one quarter of the total—highlighting how manufacturing and systems integration capabilities are spilling into new industries. Smart glasses stood out, with at least three dozen Chinese products on display. By contrast, Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have sold about 2 million units, reaching less than 1% of the US population. Chinese firms argue mass adoption will come when prices fall to around $200, weight drops below 50 grams, daily charging suffices, and full-color displays are standard, mirroring how electric vehicles in China surged after reaching a 5% market share and now approach 50%.

A second trend is electronics companies pivoting into electric vehicles. Robot vacuum maker Dreame is linked to EV startups Nebula Next and Kosmera, which unveiled sports car prototypes at CES. This follows earlier moves such as Roborock’s founder launching an EV company in 2023 and Xiaomi debuting its first EV in 2024. Analysts note China’s supply chain depth, engineering talent, and manufacturing ecosystem lower entry barriers, but only a few players will survive intense competition.

Autonomous vehicles and generative AI also show scale advantages. Robovan maker Neolix says deployments in China have grown roughly tenfold annually, reaching about 10,000 vehicles in 2025—around four times the roughly 2,500 Waymo vehicles in the US—and claims over 60% market share. In AI video, Kuaishou’s Kling has more than 60 million registered users, while PixVerse reports over 120 million registrations and 15 million monthly active users, mostly outside China. CES demonstrations showed AI video production can generate 105 minutes of content for about $2,500, underscoring how Chinese firms are leveraging scale, cost efficiency, and platform ambitions in emerging tech.
