SpaceX shares slipped for a third consecutive day, dropping 16% on Monday to close at $154.60 after the company announced its debut investment-grade bond sale to raise at least $20 billion for its artificial intelligence ambitions, erasing over $600 billion in market value over three days.
Despite the losses, retail trading for SpaceX remained exceptionally strong, with retail investors net buying $405 million in the first five sessions, surpassing the inflows of all Magnificent Seven stocks combined. KeyBanc Capital Markets initiated coverage with its first hold-equivalent rating, noting that much of the long-term value is already reflected in the stock price.
The company's market capitalization remains just above $2 trillion, and it recently signed a multi-billion dollar agreement to provide computing resources to AI startup Reflection AI. Following SpaceX's acquisition of xAI in February, investors are closely watching its AI expansion, viewing it as a bellwether for the upcoming IPOs of competitors Anthropic and OpenAI.
