Its protein could in theory raise satiety hormones such as cholecystokinin, peptide YY, and GLP-1 and lower ghrelin, yet studies have not shown that bone broth reliably provides enough of these to produce clear weight loss.

In a 2021 Medicina mouse study, six animals were given bovine bone broth and six received water before induced colonic lesions, with controls showing severe inflammation and distortion and the broth group only moderate damage, but this is preliminary; the practical takeaway is that broth is generally safe and comforting, with plausible but sparse benefits and wallet impact most obvious.
