NASA is soon launching the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to explore dark matter and dark energy, which make up most of the universe. With a resolution matching Hubble and an extremely massive field of view, it will map the large-scale structure of the cosmos in detail to help scientists deeply understand cosmic evolution.

The Roman telescope will also search for hundreds of thousands of new exoplanets using advanced techniques like microlensing. It can detect extremely low-mass planets and even isolated rogue planets, and these important discoveries will help us understand the formation mechanisms of planetary systems and assess whether life-bearing environments like Earth are rare in the universe.

Furthermore, the space telescope will observe over a billion galaxies and numerous supernova explosions to investigate several unsolved mysteries in the current standard model of cosmology. By more precisely measuring the universe's expansion rate and the state of matter distribution, scientists hope to clarify the potential changes in dark energy, thereby bringing about major breakthroughs in the field of cosmology.
