Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has proposed a massive ¥370 trillion domestic investment plan aimed at driving the nation's economic growth through long-term investment. However, due to unclear government funding sources, along with potential tax cuts and increased defense spending, market concerns about the nation's finances have been triggered, putting this grand vision at risk of becoming a hollow ambition.

Despite Takaichi achieving a series of successes in diplomacy and national security, her soaring public support is rapidly cooling because she focuses too much on defense, economic security, and long-term targets while neglecting the immediate cost-of-living pressures faced by the public. Furthermore, she faces the challenge of her ruling coalition lacking a majority in the upper house, as seen when a bill to establish a backup capital barely passed by a margin of just two votes.

To address voter dissatisfaction, Takaichi plans to order her ruling party to draft legislation lowering the food sales tax to one percent and providing subsidies to low-income households, though a plan to cover the lost tax revenue remains missing. Meanwhile, investors believe that the Bank of Japan steadily raising interest rates is the most effective measure to combat inflation and rescue the weak yen, yet the market remains concerned that she will pressure the central bank to slow its pace of policy tightening.
