为了实现技术自立，韩国政府去年启动了一项旨在选拔国家AI冠军的竞赛，目前入围的四家企业包括LG AI Research、Motif Technologies、SK Telecom和Upstage，最终赢家将于明年初选出。

该主权AI计划向国内开发商提供GPU等关键资源以确保独立研发能力，而Upstage也宣布了其业务策略，将结合其AI模型、智慧代理及新收购的Daum入口网站，打造面向大众的单一平台。

Sung Kim, the CEO of Upstage, expressed that the US restriction on foreign access to Anthropic's advanced AI models highlights the critical importance of South Korea's sovereign AI development, as AI has transitioned from a tool into a strategic national asset.

In response to these global dynamics, the South Korean government has initiated a competition to select and support national AI champions, which has currently narrowed down to four key domestic competitors: LG AI Research, Motif Technologies, SK Telecom, and Upstage.

This sovereign AI initiative provides crucial government resources like GPUs to local developers to guarantee independent AI progress, while Upstage is expanding its consumer reach by integrating its AI technologies with its newly acquired web portal Daum.
