Bartosz Idzik, a developer from Poland, and his friend purchased a Chinese-made humanoid robot, the Unitree G1, named it Edward Warchocki, and equipped it with fluent Polish conversational abilities by connecting it to a large language model. The robot quickly went viral online, participating in various outdoor activities and attracting over a million followers and billions of views, becoming a friend in the eyes of many.

The Unitree G1 is considered one of the most affordable and accessible humanoid robots on the global market, capable of performing entertaining tasks like parkour, dancing, and cooking. While highly popular on social media, it has raised doubts about whether it can handle traditional economic jobs like factory assembly lines or house cleaning, though Unitree successfully delivered over 5,000 robots in 2025 and achieved its first profitability.

American creator Jake Cooperstein was similarly inspired to purchase the robot, turning it into a social media influencer named Brickell Clanker and generating income by bringing it to parties and corporate events. However, with the US Federal Communications Commission recently issuing a new ban on Chinese-made humanoid robots, future imports face challenges, while these robots currently still heavily rely on human teleoperation to ensure the safety of bystanders.
