Texas is rapidly becoming the center of gravity for America Inc., creating approximately a fifth of all net new jobs in the US from 2020 to 2025. Between 2020 and 2025, at least 184 companies shifted their headquarters to Texas, including giants like ExxonMobil and Tesla.
The state's energy abundance is driving this growth, with Texas expected to build two-fifths of all new utility-scale solar in America this year. In Austin, venture-capital investment hit a record $7.4 billion last year, boosting its rank from tenth to fifth most active VC hub over a decade.
To compete with Delaware, Texas established the Texas Business Court and enacted laws allowing companies to block lawsuits from shareholders with less than a 3% stake. Additionally, financial giants are expanding, exemplified by Goldman Sachs building a $500 million Dallas campus for 5,000 employees.
