On Chrono24, Gen Z spending share on Cartier rose from 1.7% in 2018 to 6.8% in the first half of this year, while all-age share climbed from 2.9% to 5.4%. Entry-level mini steel Panthères priced around £3,500 make watches substitutes for luxury handbags, while Cartier’s gender-neutral positioning appeals broadly; industry advisers estimate 55% of sales to men and 45% to women. Kardashian-driven Love bracelet visibility and male celebrities like Chalamet wearing small gold models reinforced momentum.

Despite strong growth, recent secondary-market softness has appeared, with slight dips in dress-watch demand in Asia and North America and US young buyers pressured by inflation, student loans and weaker employment. Rivals are responding: Rolex’s 1908 dress line and playful small-size colored dials signal renewed competition. To sustain traction, a revival of the Swift-popularized Santos Demoiselle is widely viewed as a potentially decisive next step.
