Todd Boehly's asset management giant, Eldridge, is actively rolling out artificial intelligence (AI) across its portfolio companies, including Chelsea Football Club and film studio A24. This move is aimed at protecting investments amid the rising risk of technological disruption. Chelsea is leveraging AI to analyze football injuries to reduce players' time on the sidelines, while A24 has entered a $75 million research partnership with Google DeepMind to explore AI in filmmaking.

To bolster its own AI capabilities and overhaul its investment processes, Eldridge has acquired a 50 percent stake in the European AI company Sudolabs. This acquisition provides Eldridge and its portfolio companies access to a team of about 70 specialists, including roughly 40 engineers. The partnership will allow Eldridge to utilize AI to streamline due diligence and other aspects of the investment process, accelerating analysis and reducing manual workload across the firm.

Although Eldridge has previously worked with the US-based AI company Anthropic, the decision to invest in Sudolabs was partly driven by the desire to avoid becoming overly reliant on a single US AI provider. Boehly emphasized that relying on a single source is inherently risky in any sector. The investment in Sudolabs ensures Eldridge's independence and flexibility in its AI strategy, while also countering the competitive threats posed by other investment groups capitalizing on AI tools.
