According to the latest Gallup poll, the percentage of Americans who occasionally consume alcohol held steady at 54% this year, matching last year's figure and offering hope to the alcohol industry that recent declines may be stabilizing.
While the proportion of drinkers remained unchanged, the average number of drinks consumed per week slightly increased to 3.2. Meanwhile, driven by rising health awareness, 51% of Americans now believe that alcohol is detrimental to their well-being.
Impacted by post-pandemic declines in drinking rates, growing health concerns, and the rise of alternatives like THC beverages, several alcohol companies, including Brown-Forman, Molson Coors, and Boston Beer, have experienced falling sales and stock market declines in recent years.
